Frances is gone! - by Gangis

My family came up to my apartment here in Orlando from Melbourne, and it was a tense five days, and we lost power for only about an hour total. Cable was quite another matter, and since our internet connection relied on Roadrunner, we had none. I ended up using my neighbor's open wireless point connected to a Sprint DSL line to check email, etc. My dad fashioned an antenna out of a piece of coaxial cable for the HDTV in the living room, it could only take Channel 9 Eyewitness News, but that was great enough.

My parents returned to Melbourne earlier, no damage to the house at all. The tree outside my old bathroom (before I moved out of my parents') was split in half. They're going to email me a picture of that... Heh heh.

Up here in Orlando, nothing major happened at all. The strongest winds I saw were about 35mph, that's it. A large tree (weakened by Charley) fell onto the parking lot of the apartment complex, but there were no cars in its path. I went out for a drive today up and down Semoran/436, nothing major. I may go down to Melbourne soon to visit my parents, but we have to watch for Ivan the Terrible... Who knows, it might complete the Florida Trifecta...
