On Wednesday I worked the Midnight Madness sale at CompUSA. I haven't had a more worse time that night. I cannot believe how many people in this town were such assholes. 3/4 of customers refused to work with me because of my disability and one guy went as far as to call me "deaf-dumb" because he was talking so fast I couldn't understand him. Oh man, I wanted to punch him but I pulled myself together and simply walked away. He wasn't worth my time. Today has been nothing short of interesting. I woke up at 4:00 this morning, cursed a bit about me being up at this unholy hour, and took a shower, had breakfast and by 4:30 I went out the front door and started driving to work. I gotta tell ya, driving down Route 192 was a breeze at 4:30 in the morning, no traffic. But I was unprepared for what I saw when I arrived at my workplace. (Click Continue Reading..." There was a long line around the parking lot. Yes, at 4:45 in the morning. Apparently there were plenty of people who got up earlier than I did and lined up in front of a store that wasn't supposed to open until 6:00. I rang the doorbell and a manager came to the door and unlocked it for me, so I walk towards the offices in the back to clock in. I believe I clocked in at 4:50. Went to the back room, got the barcode scanner and started printing out new price tags for the items. Finished up what I had to do at 5:30, half an hour before the store opened, so I grabbed my clapboard and headed to the front door. The line was getting longer, about twice the length of the parking lot. Finally at 6:00, the doors opened. I was stationed at the door next to Sandy. I'm telling you, spending 4 hours standing next to Sandy was a hoot, we picked on each other the whole time. My job was to check the receipts of every shopper that walked out, making sure they didn't carry anything "extra", if you catch my drift. It was pretty fun, better than being one of the poor salesmen who had to take care of 400 people in the store. At 9:00am I finally left the place, exhusted but satisfied. So, in other news, the TV I was just raving about? I'm returning it to the store. I've been having some problems and decided that I rushed into purchasing a TV and that if I had waited a bit, I'd have gotten a better quality one. I do like it, it's better than the old TV, but I'd rather wait until my brother and I move in together, that way we can both split the cost of a very nice widescreen HDTV. Also, I made a huge mistake with my finances and overestimated my budget, and now I owe $31.21 to the bank for overdraft charges. I've always fought the overdraft charges but now I think I'm just going to absorb it. It is, after all, my fault. I'm just going to take responsbility for it and TRY to make sure it doesn't happen again. I rely on my check card too much. I should be using cash more, I guess. That's my hamartia, spending way too much. |
