| On a lighter note... - by Gangis |
...I picked up a pretty funny movie clip recently. Check it out! Nothing much happened today. I had no class because the teacher's brother had surgery, and he wanted to be with him. Work was another typical day, did all the price tags and then when the store opened, I went to my post at the front end (standing in the front of the sensors to discourage shoplifters) and chatted with Mildred. (click Read More) Mildred tells me that she's giving her resume to Katie (the new girl)'s father, since he works at Harris Corporation. I hope she gets the job, I mean, working as a cashier at CompUSA is nice and all but she graduated from college with a degree in business, so I think she deserves a higher-paying job. Good luck, Mildred! There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of all the people I'm going to leave this summer. I'll be moving to Orlando to live with my older brother (25 years old) and attending University of Central Florida. However, I'm going to be leaving a lot of people. Since I'm the second, and last, child, my parents' home will be an empty nest. I think deep down my parents are afraid of that day... And also, I'll be leaving all the friends I've made at CompUSA. I'm hoping to transfer to the other CompUSA store in Orlando (on Orange Blossom Trail) but I'll still miss everybody. What the heck am I saying? It's not gonna happen for several months, heh. My best friend Jeff is moving to Jacksonville, and we'll be further apart than ever before. It's a 3-hour drive from Orlando to Jacksonville, whereas it takes 2 hours to drive from Melbourne to West Palm Beach (where he is now.) Anyways, one of the new anime that has appeared during the October sweeps in Japan is Sakigake!! Cromartie High. I heard many good things about it, like how rolling-on-the-floor funny it was, and watched the first episode. Lo and behold, I didn't find it funny AT ALL. In fact, I thought it was pretty dumb. I asked around about it and came to the realization that it was the cultural difference. It makes me wonder what the Japanese think of some of our programs. I think for shows that humor is very obvious such as I Love Lucy it wouldn't be a problem, but what about shows such as Popular (was on WB a few years ago)? I really enjoyed Popular, but I wonder if it had cultural references that others wouldn't understand? Hmm... |
